This article is for Galaxy Tab P1000 (p1) users. Let’s look at how to flash an Omni-based Android Marshmallow custom ROM on the Samsung Galaxy GT-P1000 without a PC.
The Omni ROM is built for users who love customizing their device.
Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 Specifications:
Display: 7.0", 600×1024, 480p
Camera: 3MP
RAM: 512MB
Chipset: Hummingbird
Battery: 4000mAh Li-Ion
Prerequisites:
- Stock ROM based on Android 2.3.3 or 2.3.6
- OMNI ROM 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) zip file:
- GApps for Omni (GT-P1000):
http://opengapps.org/?download=true&arch=arm&api=6.0&variant=pico
- Sufficient battery charge
- A full backup of your files
- CWM recovery installed (TWRP will be installed as part of the process — see below)
If you don’t have TWRP installed yet, don’t worry. Flashing this ROM twice installs it automatically — the first flash attempt will be aborted, but on reboot it will load the new TWRP recovery. You need CWM recovery for this first step.

Flashing the ROM:
-
Download the Omni ROM and GApps from the links above.
-
Boot into recovery by holding Volume Up + Power for 5 seconds. Use Volume Up/Down to navigate and the Power button (or Search key) to select.
-
Select Wipe User Data and confirm with Yes, Wipe All Data.
NOTE: This will delete all personal data. Make a complete backup first.
-
Select Wipe Cache Partition.
-
Go to Advanced and select Wipe Dalvik Cache.
-
Select Install ZIP from SD Card, then choose
OMNI_HOME_MADE.zip.The first flash will take 5–10 minutes, then show “Installation aborted” due to a framework issue. This is expected.
-
Flash the same ZIP again. This time the device will boot into TWRP recovery.
-
From TWRP, select Install ZIP from SD Card again and choose
Omni_Homemade(Rom).zip. You can optionally uncheck Enable ZIP verification, though verifying the package is recommended. This will take another 5–10 minutes.
-
After the ROM flashes successfully, go back and select Install ZIP from SD Card again. Choose
GAPPS.zip.GApps contains core Google apps like the Play Store and Google services. This also takes about 5–10 minutes.
-
After both ZIPs are flashed, tap Reboot. First boot can take up to 5 minutes.
You’ll see the Samsung Galaxy Tab running Android 6.0 Marshmallow — quite a jump from Gingerbread!
TIP: If you experience framework issues, try flashing ICS (4.0.x) first before jumping straight to Marshmallow. You can find more info on the Humbero blog.
If the device gets soft-bricked, don’t panic — you can re-flash the stock ROM via Odin to recover it.
Regards!
